FAQs about the Custom Perfume Studio at Noteology
Q: Do we need an appointment or reservation?
Reservations are not required but are highly recommended. This allows us to reserve your scent station for you on your desired day. Reservations are taken on a first come first serve basis. Please make your reservation by calling us at 570.343.2100 for Scranton and 570.319.1111 for Clarks Summit. Q: How much does it cost to make a perfume/cologne at the Custom Perfume Studio?
Pricing is based on your finished bottle size, regardless of how many notes you smell or use. We offer 2 sizes. Our standard house size is a 60 ml bottle for $80 and we offer a smaller 30 ml size for $48.
Q: Do you host private parties?
Absolutely! Click here for more information.
Q: How long does it take?
The time it takes really depends on you and your exploration of the notes. We have had people complete the process in as little as 20 minutes and as long as 3 hours. On average, it is a 45-60 minute process. If you are in a group or with a party, it will take longer.
Q: Can men do it too?
Absolutely! There are many notes in the Perfumer's Organ that will allow you to create a great cologne, whether it is spicy and warm, earthy and deep, fresh and clean or bright and cheerful!
Q: What is the youngest age you can accommodate?
The minimum age is 7 years old and we require the child to be accompanied by an adult at all times. We will formulate the strength and potency of their creation based on their age as well.
Q: I have never done this before, will it be too hard for me or will I create something that smells awful?
No way! Although it may seem like an intimidating process at first, please know that we will guide you every step of the way. Our experts are extremely well-trained to guide, help and give recommendations for your fragrance based on both structure and how the aromatics work together. We insure that you will create a fragrance that you love and one that smells amazing!
Q: What scents will I be able to work with?
We offer a wide variety of scents to please every nose. There are 50 scents for you to work with in your own Perfumer's Organ. You will find scents that are fresh and clean, floral, citrus, herbal, fruity, tropical, berries, earthy, woody, ambers and musk. We also have seasonal add-on notes to add to your blend!
Q: Do I do the blending?
No. Blending your formula is the most difficult part of the process and therefore out Scent Designers will do it for you! Designers are trained on the proper proportions of each of your notes and how they blend together seamlessly.
Q: I have no idea what I like to wear in a fragrance. Will you create it for me?
We will certainly guide you and give you our expert advice & recommendations along with our 5-10 minute introduction to the process, but we will not create it for you. The philosophy behind the Custom Perfume Studio at Noteology is for you to discover your own scent story. We believe that everyone is unique in what they like to smell and how it makes them feel. We want it to be your design, your fragrance, your scent story. Therefore you design your fragrance and we formulate it for you.
Q: When my fragrance is made, can I try it on my skin?
Absolutely! When we formulate your blend, we leave enough room in the bottle to make any final tweaks so you can smell it on a blotter and on your skin, approve or tweak it and then we finalize your blend!
Q: Your process seems really cool! Did you develop it?
Thank you! We think it is pretty cool too! It was developed by our Founder, Danielle, and is patented (US Patent 10,442,391) with 3 additional patents pending. How cool is that!
